Tatiane Amaral

owner and chef de cuisine

Born in São Paulo, Brazil, Tatiane grew up in a rich culinary culture. Her mother was a talented home cook, and her father owned a butcher shop. At her uncle’s bakery, Tatiane learned to roll truffles, cut fruit, stir sauces and create pie fillings.

Tatiane began working professionally in the kitchen when she was just 12 years old. After arriving in the United States at age 19, she served as a personal chef while training with Chef Derek Fontenot, an expert in French, Creole and Cajun cooking. She cooked for three years at Tragara Restaurant in Bethesda before working for years with some of the most renowned catering companies in D.C., including a stint as executive chef.

She went on to become a culinary superstar in her own right with the opening of Bella Cuisine in 2014. At Bella, Tatiane showcases her signature style: fresh and flavorful international cuisine inspired by high-quality local and artisanal ingredients.
